More confidence in the water with support that can reduce as they progress

This one is particularly close to our hearts because our son learnt to swim using a Konfidence Jacket.

Before he could swim independently, family time in the pool could feel like a constant balancing act. He wanted the freedom to move around and play, while naturally we needed to stay right there with him.

The Konfidence Jacket changed that experience for us.

The built-in buoyancy gave him extra support and confidence to move around in the water, which meant he could concentrate on playing, exploring and enjoying himself. We still supervised him closely at all times, of course, but seeing him supported in the water helped make family pool time feel more enjoyable for everyone.

But what we really love about this jacket is that the support doesn’t have to stay the same as their swimming improves.

It grows with their confidence

Inside the jacket are 8 removable soft foam floats.

When they’re starting out, you can use all the floats to provide greater buoyancy. As their swimming becomes stronger and their confidence grows, you can remove the floats gradually, reducing the amount of assistance the jacket provides.

This was the part that really impressed us.

During one holiday, our son’s swimming progressed enough that we were able to remove around half of the floats. From his point of view, he was still wearing his familiar swimming jacket and still felt secure.

But quietly, he was doing more and more of the swimming himself.

That’s exactly the kind of confidence-building progression we look for in the products we choose.

Start with more support and then remove the floats individually as their ability develops. Rather than suddenly taking their buoyancy aid away, you can gradually ask them to do more of the work themselves.

This was huge for us. We could reduce the buoyancy while our son continued wearing the jacket he already knew and trusted. His support gradually decreased while his confidence and swimming ability increased.

Our favourite feature

The jacket can quietly step back as your child steps forward.

That’s exactly what happened with our son.

At the beginning of our holiday, he needed considerably more buoyancy. As he spent time playing and swimming, his confidence and ability improved and we gradually removed floats.

By the end of the holiday, we’d roughly halved the amount of buoyancy he was using.

He was still wearing the same familiar jacket and still felt secure but without really thinking about it, he was doing much more of the swimming himself.

For us, that’s what makes the Konfidence Jacket different from simply putting something on a child to keep them afloat. It’s designed to support the process of learning to swim and gradually reduce that support as they’re ready for it.
