The goggles that changed swimming for us 💦

Sometimes it’s the smallest thing that holds a child back in the water.

For my son, it was putting his face underwater.

At four, he was ready to move up from his swimming class in almost every way but because he wouldn’t go underwater, he couldn’t progress. He was still in a class with children two years younger than him, which was becoming frustrating and a little awkward because we knew he could swim but there was just this one thing holding him back.

We tried different goggles, but that created another problem. The straps caught and pulled his hair, they felt uncomfortable around his eyes, and when they came off it needed parent intervention to get them back on. Eventually he simply refused to wear them.

Then we discovered Frogglez.

The soft strap didn’t pull his hair. They felt comfortable on his face. And, most importantly, he was actually happy to wear them.

We started small, wearing them in the bath and practising putting his face in the water where he felt completely comfortable. Gradually the fear disappeared. Before long, he wasn’t just tolerating going underwater; he loved it.

And the difference at swimming lessons was remarkable. He finally moved out of the class he’d been stuck in and progressed so quickly that he skipped the next class altogether.
